Meliodas Build Guide: Best Weapons, Armor & Team Comps — 7DS Origin
Overview & Lore
Meliodas is the owner of the mobile tavern Boar Hat and the leader of The Seven Deadly Sins, a group that was previously wanted for the crime of attempting to overthrow the kingdom. He is currently traveling alongside Elizabeth, the third princess of Liones, on a journey to find the scattered members of his legendary squad throughout the land.
Best Weapons and Element
Meliodas relies on the Darkness element and has access to a Longsword, Dual Swords, and an Axe, though two weapons stand out as his absolute best options [2-5]:
- Dual Swords (Best for Beginners/Sustain): The Dual Swords are highly recommended when you are just starting out because they provide lifesteal. Because your entire team shares a single HP bar in combat, healing while you deal damage benefits everyone and is incredibly valuable during tough raid boss encounters.
- Longsword (Best for Maximum Damage): Once you are comfortable with dodging, countering, and reading enemy attack patterns, you should switch to the Longsword. This weapon allows Meliodas to unleash ridiculous amounts of damage, especially when timing his massive nukes during an active Darkness Burst.
Best Armor & Stats
While specific named best-in-slot armor sets for Meliodas are currently "under construction" in the game's database, the core strategy for his gear is clear. You must build him as a pure hyper-carry DPS by prioritizing the following stats on all of his equipment:
- Attack (Top priority)
- Crit Rate / Crit Damage
- Bonus Attack from gear and upgrades
Best Team Compositions
Meliodas shines brightest when his team is built entirely around enabling his massive damage windows.
- The Optimal Darkness Team: Meliodas (Main DPS), Bug (Sub-DPS), Tioreh (Healer), Tristan (Sub-DPS/Buffer). This team allows Tristan to set up Fire bursts or Bug to apply Darkness debuffs and centralize enemies, paving the way for Meliodas's burst.
- The Rapid-Burst Sub-DPS Setup: Meliodas (Main DPS), Jericho (Sub-DPS), Mannie (Support), Diane (Support). Jericho uses her Dual Swords to rapidly fill the Burst Gauge, Mannie stacks debuffs on the enemy with her Ultimate, and Meliodas swaps in to finish the enemy off while the Burst is active.
- Fire Synergy (F2P/Beginner Friendly): Use Fire units like Guila and Tristan to easily generate an elemental Burst, include a healer for sustain, and then swap to Meliodas to trigger his Darkness Burst.
Key Playstyle Tips
- Master the Darkness Burst Mechanic: The Darkness element is unique because it cannot build a Burst Gauge on its own. To play Meliodas effectively, you must first use your teammates to fill the gauge and activate a different element's Burst (like Fire or Wind), and then immediately attack with Meliodas to overwrite it into a Darkness Burst.
- Focus on the Damage Loop: Do not rely heavily on Meliodas's basic attacks for your overall damage. Your combat loop should be: Build Elemental Burst with your support team > Switch to Meliodas > Trigger the Burst > Dump all of his skills > Use his Ultimate.
- Treat Him as a Solo Carry: Meliodas is widely considered the best character in the game. Your team's primary job is simply to enable his Burst windows so he can carry the fights and obliterate bosses.
