Slater Build Guide: Best Weapons, Armor & Team Comps — 7DS Origin
Overview & Lore
Slater (also spelled Slader) is an SR-rarity character and the former captain of the Roars of Dawn, a knight order that once served directly under the king. He holds unwavering loyalty to the former king, Bartra, and continues to act strictly in accordance with his will. In combat, he serves as an incredible sub-DPS and universal debuffer whose abilities make enemies highly vulnerable to his team's attacks.
Best Weapons and Element
Slater's playstyle and elemental synergy shift completely depending on the weapon he has equipped:
- Axe (Wind / Universal Support - Best Overall): This is widely considered his most valuable loadout. His abilities apply "Bleed," which deals continuous Wind damage and reduces enemy healing. More importantly, his Ultimate Move, Bloody Arc, inflicts Deep Wound, which increases all damage the enemy takes by 25%. Because Deep Wound has no element restriction, this weapon allows Slater to fit into almost any team.
- Greatsword (Fire - Best for Fire Synergy): This loadout turns Slater into a powerful Fire-oriented burst attacker. His passive ability boosts his damage by 15% against enemies with an active Fire Burst. Furthermore, his Ultimate Move, Power Smite, will stun the enemy for 5 seconds if a Fire Burst is active.
- Cudgel / Nunchaku (Best for Crowd Control): This weapon focuses heavily on inflicting and exploiting the Stun status effect. His passive restores 2 Tag Points whenever he activates a Burst, and his skills deal massive bonus damage or generate extra Burst Gauge when hitting Stunned enemies.
Best Armor, Stats & Costumes
While specific named best-in-slot armor sets are currently marked as "under construction" in the sources, Slater should be built as an aggressive sub-DPS. Prioritize Attack, Crit Chance, and Crit Damage to maximize his supportive damage output.
You should highly prioritize equipping Costumes that synergize with your chosen weapon:
- Loyal Friend (Best for Axe): Increases the duration of all debuffs by up to 35%, ensuring his powerful Deep Wound and Bleed effects stay active longer.
- Secret Mission (Best for Axe/DoT): If an attack on an enemy taking Damage-over-Time (DoT) results in a Critical Hit, the DoT interval decreases by up to 30%. This pairs flawlessly with his Axe's Bleed effect.
- Sword of the Old King (Best for Cudgel): Increases damage dealt to Stunned enemies by up to 35% and extends Stun durations when landing Special Attacks.
Best Team Compositions
Because his Deep Wound debuff is so powerful, Slater is a highly flexible unit that shines in multiple top-tier team setups.
- The Optimal Lightning Team: Drake (Main DPS), Gilthunder (Sub-DPS), Slater (Support/Debuffer), Hendrickson (Healer). Slater is incredibly valuable here because his Axe's Deep Wound debuff significantly amplifies the massive burst damage Drake unleashes.
- Best F2P / Beginner Fire Team: Guila (Main DPS), Tristan (Sub-DPS), Tioreh (Healer), Slater (Support). This team requires absolutely no gacha pulls. Slater can use his Greatsword to capitalize on the Fire Bursts generated by Guila and Tristan, or use his Axe to simply amplify Guila's damage.
Key Playstyle Tips
- Apply Deep Wound Before Bursting: If you are using his Axe, your primary goal is to land his Bloody Arc Ultimate Move. Because Deep Wound increases the enemy's damage taken by 25%, always ensure this debuff is active before swapping to your main carry (like Drake or Meliodas) to unleash their heaviest attacks.
- Bypass Enemies with His Adventure Skill: Outside of combat, Slater's Adventure Skill is incredibly unique. It resets normal enemies' aggro and prevents further aggro while using Stamina, allowing you to safely sprint past dangerous mobs while exploring Britannia.
- Utilize Him as a Top-Tier Miner: The efficiency of mining in the game is dictated by the "mass" of a character's weapon. Because Slater wields heavy weapons like the Axe and Greatsword, he deals significantly more impact damage to mineral nodes. Keep him in your exploration party to break high-tier ores like Gold and Platinum in a fraction of the time it would take a light-weapon user.
